Welcome,
If you are looking for premium quality hunts with top notch luxury accommodations or back country camps, look no further. Estes Park Outfitters offers a wider range of Elk/Mule Deer Hunts from Drop Camps to Premium Fully Guided Hunts. For the do-it-yourself kind of person that likes to "rough it" try one of our drop camps. Either location offers hunting opportunities!
Our packages start out with a Five Day Archery/Gun Drop Camp. Our drop camps are best with 2 hunters per camp. We offer several drop camps in restricted access portions of unit 20 & 29 in Roosevelt National Forest. These areas are considered remote and are only accessible by horse back or on foot. Each drop camp consists of a wall tent containing cots/mattress, tables, chairs, lights, cooking utensils, wood stoves, propane stoves, fire wood, drinking water, bear proof containers (for food), and a latrine. Hunters need to bring personal gear, food and drinks. There is a 75 lb weight restriction per person on personal gear not including food. Transportation to camp is by horseback & pack horse and no more than 2 hours to camp. Each camp will be checked, by radio every day during the hunt for game that needs to be packed out. All game taken will need to be brought to a pack able location for the pack animals to retrieve and taken to the processor.
Our premium package is a Five Day Archery/Gun hunt where we provide lodging and meals. Our Lodge is 9,200 ft above sea level and has all the amenities which will allow you to relax in the evenings and have our in house chef prepare dinner and breakfast. These hunts are one guide for two hunters in Unit 20. Our private ranch property offers exclusive hunting on over 1,000 acres and offers over 150,000 acres of Roosevelt National Forest which is bordering Rocky Mtn. National Park, (a non-huntable area.)
We also offer an exclusive fully guided one on one package, which is a 5-day archery/muzzleloader back-country hunt in Indian Peaks Wilderness area. You will be camping at 10,000 ft and hunting some of the most spectacular country and some of the biggest bull elk in Unit 20. It is not for the faint of heart, this hunt is physically demanding and requires fitness and stamina, however the rewards are great!
All hunts are 5 days in camp with transportation to and from camp the day before and the day after.
Archery season is roughly four weeks long, during which we offer four separate hunts.
The early Rifle seasons are roughly a month long from the second week of October to the third week of November. During this time we offer four separate hunts. All Rifle lodge hunts are 5 days long and are 1 guide per 2 hunters (maximum of 4 hunters per season.) In addition to the regular season, we offer one late elk season in early December. All archery & gun seasons in both Units 20 & 29 take preference points to draw the elk license but not for deer. Unit 20 takes more preference points to draw the elk license than Unit 29 but both units are relatively easy to draw the deer license every year.
*All packages can add a mule deer combo hunt for no additional prices.
Gratuity
Gratuity is at your discretion, but since we get so many inquiries, the following is normal and customary:

The cook is responsible for preparing a 5 days of hearty home-cooked meals, and normally receives at least $100 per hunter.
The guide is responsible for your hunt and normally receives between 10 and 15% of the price of your hunt. Please remember that regardless of the success of your hunt, they are working for your success all week.
High Country Hunts (pack-in): On these, your guide is also your cook so normally they receive a gratuity of between 15 and 20% of your hunt price
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to call. I am looking forward to seeing you and can’t wait to start hunting………… See you when you get here.
