Summer Horseback Rides
Due to the start of
hunting season on Aug 28th, we will close summer operations on Aug 24th.
Thank you to all who made this season a successful one!
Ride back into the past with Estes Park Outfitter's
summer horseback ride through the spectacular Rocky Mountains.
Join us for a decidedly different and unique riding experience. We
offer morning, 1/2 day rides into historic Homestead Meadows. Experience what life was like at the turn of the century
and learn
about homesteading life in the Colorado Rockies. Visit an area rarely
explored by other touring visitors. Now under the guardianship and
care of the National Forest Service it features areas originally owned
and operated in the early 1900s by pioneering homesteaders surrounded by
acres of natural wilderness. With 25 years experience exploring this
area, come along for a safe & relaxing ride to learn more about the Homestead
Meadows. See the remnants of their life in
the mountains, and enjoy a truly relaxing day in the fresh air of the
Colorado Rockies.
We offer 4 person rides for a more personal and relaxing ride.
Most trails are wide enough to ride side by side, no more nose to tail,
mindless riding with large groups of people. Enjoy the views,
the smell of pines, the flutter and chirp of hummingbirds, wild flowers
of every color and unique design, watch for the ever elusive Snowshoe
hare, Abert squirrel, mule deer,
elk or bear.
Quiet, mountain-wise horses, tack and rain gear will be provided as well as personal
knowledge of the mountains and the homesteads. Bring a sack lunch
to enjoy in the cool, fresh mountain atmosphere, under a warming
sunshine and bright blue skies. Listen, see, imagine and live for
a day the life of the homesteaders past. Let the peacefulness
of nature
refresh you and help you forget about everything but the moments that
surround you on this day.
You'll start your ride when we pick you up in our
comfortable SUV and take you up to our remote high country corral via a
4 wheel drive road with spectacular views of the Estes Valley.
There you'll meet your sure footed equine companion and we'll get your
supplies packed for your 1/2 day ride. Once your
supplies are secured we'll head out to the historic Homestead Meadows
where you can take your time to explore and relax. Limit 4 people
per ride with minimum age of 12 years, cost is $85 per person.
Because we use regular sized mountain horses we must place a weight
limit of 225 lbs per person. Please supply your own sack lunch and
beverage; bring a camera, jacket and hat. Riding shoes strongly
suggested. We will supply the tack, saddle bags and rain gear, a
knowledgeable guide and your horse. You'll end your trip with us
when we return you from our corral via SUV to your original starting
point.
Open again in May 2011, weather dependent.
Prices subject to change without notice.
